About

Plant breeders, sometimes called Geneticists, undertake scientific research to improve existing plant varieties or create new ones.

The goals of their work are to improve the appearance of plants, increase resistance to disease, or increase yield.

Their research includes undertaking laboratory, glasshouse and field trials; analyzing and interpreting data; selecting parent plants for cross-breeding; and presenting scientific findings.
