Optometry practitioners examine, diagnose, treat and manage diseases, injuries and disorders of the eye and associated structures. Optometrists may also prescribe and sell eyeglasses, contact lenses and vision therapy. Some optometrists run their own independent practices while others are part of group practices in hospitals or other health care facilities.
